Here's the story: my dad just signed up for xfinity, with internet, phone, and cable, and it apparently comes with 12 Mbps up 2 Mbps down internet. I was under the impression that we were currently paying for 10 Mbps, or at least I knew we were 4-5 years ago. Just to check we were not getting ripped off (I was only there for the tail end of the discussion, and the salesperson didn't even know the difference between Mbps and MBps,) I just did many speedtests at speedtest.net, and I was getting 18-20 Mbps up, 2Mbps down. So my questions are: could we be getting more than I'm paying for, or am I just mistaken about what we were paying for? We're currently paying about 75 dollars for internet and very basic cable that we set up about 5 years ago in the Tacoma area of Washington State.
